Hi, Carol-
We've been intrigued with the property for some time, but it's been quite sad watching the deterioration. Frankly, I'd love to stroll to a great restaurant, particularly in such a beautiful location.
There is a link to the town meeting; if you'd like us to pursue the status of the property, let us know. It seemed in limbo at the time of the post, but that may have changed- the public records will provide insight.
Thank you for your own insight- like Sean's father, it sounds as though some nice memories are a part of that old "house"!

I visited and dined in the General Wayne Restaurant in the late 1960's fairly frequently with my then fiancee. There was an outdoor patio for dining and dancing under the stars in the summer and elegant buffets on the weekends in the winter. The chef was world renowned and the General Wayne had many patrons.

My parents held their 50th wedding anniversary party there in 1989 and it had been extensively remodeled and much of the quaint charm removed by theatrical type lighting around the bar. I have numerous photographs.

While I understand that the residents do not want a restaurant in this locale (due to noise and such after hours) does the recent rezoning allow for a B&B to be established? If so, is there a realtor I can contact to discuss potential pricing and details.
